Statement of Purpose
The ISRDI Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee exists to guide and ensure continuing progress toward the diversity, equity, and inclusion vision at the Institute for Social Research and Data Innovation (ISRDI).
The creation of a diverse and inclusive community is central to maintaining the excellence of all of our projects. Our definition of diversity extends beyond race and gender and includes socioeconomic status, religion, gender identity and expression, and more. As an institute, we aspire to represent the diversity of our city, our region, and our world and to create a space that encourages and embraces inclusiveness, equal opportunity, and respect.
The goals of the committee include:
Enhancing the work environment to foster an inclusive ISRDI
Compile and host professional development and learning opportunities for ISRDI staff and members in the diversity and equity space
Advocate for anti-opression and justice on a systemic level, within ISRDI, the larger University community and beyond
Partner with ISRDI HR to increase recruitment, retention, and advancement of our staff and faculty from historically underrepresented communities including, but not limited to, Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), queer, disabled, and immigrant communities.
Work with ISRDI leadership to advance the progress of student members of our affiliate centers, and amplify the voices and research from historically excluded and underrepresented communities
